Through public meetings: Two public meetings were held for in-person feedback: April 28, 2005, and August 18, 2005. An additional pre-construction public meeting was held on February 21, 2006.

How your comments have made a difference...

Comment: Need to construct the project in less time.
Response: Evaluated alternatives and presented O Street total closure during construction as one of the alternatives for feedback.

Comment: Concern about closure of the Super Saver drive near the O Street intersection along 48th Street.
Response: An extra lane was added along the entire length of 48th Street on the west side. This enables the drive to remain open.

Comment: Nine lanes of traffic make it difficult for pedestrians to cross.
Response: Crossing times will be evaluated at intersections. Crosswalks and cycle lengths will be set to accommodate safe pedestrian crossings.

Comment: It's difficult for left turning vehicles to safely cross at O Street onto 52nd Street.
Response: A traffic study completed as part of the project recommended a protected left turn phase at this intersection.

Comment: Many accidents occur along 48th Street from O to R Street.
Response: Consolidation of driveways along with construction of the raised median and traffic signal at the Target/Super Saver entrance should help reduce the number of accidents along this roadway segment.
